Worship FAQs

  • Can I take communion?
Jesus offered himself—his healings, his teachings, his life—to all who would receive him. “Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God” John 1:11 Communion is the meal where Jesus feeds his family. It is our understanding that all who look to Jesus for forgiveness and guidance are welcome to share in this meal. It is our understanding within the Lutheran Church that Jesus is truly present in the bread and the wine—it is his body and blood poured out for us. As we trust him—and trust that he is present in this meal—we experience his touch and grace.
  • What about the offering—-how much am I expected to give?
When you come for the first time to Light of Christ, you will be told before the offering—we don’t expect you to give anything—you are our guest! We also teach though, that giving to God is an important life-changing spiritual discipline that reminds us that all that we have is a gift. We freely teach the Bible’s important insights on managing and sharing of the gifts that God has given us.
  • Will I be asked to stand or acknowledge that I’m new at the service?
No. We recognize that people often first want to come to worship anonymously, and we respect that. We would love to have you jot your name down on the yellow slip in the bulletin though, as we would like to send you a little gift to thank you for worshiping with us.
  • How long is the service?
Our services range from 60-75 minutes depending on which service and what special things are happening in the service. With great music, some quiet time with God, communion and some engaging Bible reading and preaching, time goes quickly.
  • Is there a dress code at Light of Christ?
At Light of Christ, we have a "Come as you are" mentality! We do not expect everyone to be dressed up or in suits.
  • Can my child attend the worship service with me?
All are welcome at our worship services including children of any age.  We have a nursery available during all Sunday morning services for children up to age 5.
