1 Church in 2 Locations

Light of Christ Lutheran Church at 100 Hanson Road is capped in size (300 seat sanctuary, 200 space parking lot) and has bumped against the ceiling of 700 average weekend attendance for 10 years. While we have plans for building on and relocating to our new property on the NE corner of Longmeadow Parkway and Sleepy Hollow Road, we need to wait until we can sell our current property to take that step. As we are waiting for God to raise up a buyer, we believe that we are called to live out our mission in creative ways. To that end, we became “1 Church in 2 Locations” in the Fall of 2011. We are renting out space in Westfield Community School to offer compelling worship and creative children’s ministry (Faithland) in two places on Sunday mornings. Through this we hope to reach out and connect with families in the communities of West Dundee, Carpentersville and Sleepy Hollow.

We believe that this worship offering for our community allows us to live out our mission: To invite people into Christian community, nurture them in a life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ, so that they can faithfully and joyfully serve Him. When we build on our new property, we will become 1 Church in 1 Location, living out our mission from that home base. Of course who knows where God might call us to reach out to after that!
