FAQs

PATH is Light of Christ's ministry with students in grades 6-8 which incorporates relevant teaching, engaging worship, service opportunities and interactive small groups. We meet weekly August through May.  Students experience large group worship and lessons followed by small group discussion and prayer time. PATH ministry prepares students for confirming their faith.

What is Confirmation?
Confirmation offers students the opportunity to affirm that they are on a journey of faith with Christ. This is not the "end" of one's faith journey, nor is it equivalent to salvation. Most students participate in the Rite of Affirmation of Baptism (Confirmation) service in the spring of their 8th grade year.

What is taught?
We will challenge students in their faith by covering the following topics: Knowing God and the Apostle’s Creed; Life as a Follower of God and the 10 Commandments; LOC’s Marks of Discipleship, the Lord’s Prayer and Sacraments.

When is PATH?
PATH meets weekly on Wednesday evenings during the school year with occasional events on other nights or weekends as outlined in the PATH calendar below.

6th and 7th graders meet on Wednesday nights from 6:00 - 7:30pm
8th graders meet on Wednesday nights from 7:15 - 8:45pm.

Can students invite friends to PATH?
At Light of Christ Church we are passionate about spreading the Gospel and we highly encourage students to bring friends to PATH. Our hope is that after visiting twice, a student will register and be a permanently placed in a group to get the most out of their experience.

How can parents and other adults help?

PATH Small Group Leaders
Committed leaders are the backbone of PATH. Leaders provide positive examples of what it means to pursue the heart of Jesus as they facilitate discussion within a small group and build trusting relationships. Each leader is responsible for facilitating a small group of 6-8 students of the same gender. Ideally, each small group will have two leaders. It is the goal of our leaders to model an authentic personal relationship with Jesus that is contagious for students and encourages their discipleship. All leaders receive relevant equipping, tools and support throughout the year needed to guide students in their faith journey. PATH meets on Wednesday evenings September - May. Interested?
